Bring Your Son to Work Day....Or Not!
I find myself admiting things on this blog that I would never care to share otherwise. Oh well. Altleast my being "aloof" gives my readers a good laugh. Not my best quality, but one of my qualities just the same. Usually when I am in the car with my son, the scenerio is always the same. I am trying to enjoy some good music, and my son is calling me like a mad man. I have to constantly lower the radio, and converse with him. Which is fine, I do love talking to him, but sometimes I swear he just likes to hear his own voice. "Mom look! See that Mom! See the truck Mom?" So I answer him, and I do the Mommy thing and I point out the color of the truck, and the wheels, and yada yada yada...and then I try to catch up with my song that I am missing. Before I get the volume to my liking, he's calling me again, and we go through the whole process once again. Over, and over, and over again. Well, this morning, for the first time...I think ever...Alex didn't make a peep. Not one. I drove Amber to school, did the carpool line thing, and went on my merry way. Next stop is Alex's school, and then my final destination is the office. Well, being that Alex was so quiet, and I was singing and dancing like it was nobody's business....I FORGOT ABOUT HIM. He's a bit vertically challenged, so I can't see his head in the rear view mirror. My mind was on going to Fedex to send out a package, and Walmart for some office supplies, and when I pulled up at the office and was getting out of my truck, I caught his little red Ferrari hat in the corner of my eye. And there he was. Quiet as a church mouse. Just staring at me as if to say..."Mom, why are you taking me here? Shouldn't I be going to school?" So, back in the truck I got, and headed back to Chesterbrook Academy. Which by the way is about 2.5 minutes from my house. I'm telling you, I am losing my marbles. Whatever I have left of them.
