I'm a Butt-in-sky.....

I was at the mall browsing today because I didn't have to work and both of my kids were at school, and I over heard 2 sales people having a debate about God. I was eavesdropping. Yes I was. I wish I had a safety pin in my pocket so I could pin my mouth shut because I felt it coming up from my toes. So I jumped in. The man was arguing with the woman that he does not believe in the "super natural". He's not "buying it" he said. So I step in nicely, and say...."Only positive things come out of believing in God. Living through his word helps you and encourages you to live your life right." He said.."I don't need God for that, that's what my mother is for." So then I said "Well, in all of these years...decades...centuries.....how come not one other theory has come to light? Not a single one? Whether different religions have different beliefs, they all (I think) do agree on the fact that God created the earth." So he threw out that it seemed ridiculous that God took a rib out of Adam and created woman....so I came back with the fact that there are 4 books in the bible written at different times by 4 men that account for Jesus' birth, ministry and death and they all tell an extremely similar story. Not only did he say he could write a book today about war and love and power and in 1000 years the people of that day could decide it would "supersede" the book of God if they chose to, he also said that he DOES believe that there was a man named Jesus one day that walked the earth, and him and his friends...his drinking buddies got together and wrote a bunch of stories. It took all I had in me not to whip him across the face with the shopping bag that I had in my hand. I should have not been a butt-in-sky, and minded my own business, and walked away from ignorance...taken the high road....which I still feel I did, because had I debated with someone on this issue or another issue that we butted heads on let's say 6 months back, I would probably have had a rent-a-cop escort out of the mall.
